t's Specific Carbohydrate Diet Website Frequently Asked Questions |
Originally, I posted these FAQ's on the old site. The information here is important for SCDers and it's one of the main reasons that so many people requested I put this site back up. Much of the information that I colleced for the FAQ's you find here is now also available on other sites, but I have a great deal more information collected, but which I've yet to have the time to go through, edit and format, and as I do, I will be posting it here and marking the new topics as 'NEW'. As with all the FAQ information I've collected, I feel that it's importance to SCDers, new and experienced alike, means that it should be shared freely. That said, I have a few conditions that I feel are fair and which can be found below, in the final paragraph. Again, I'll mention that there is no contact address on this site, so once I've finished updating the pages with the information I have, this section will remain relatively static for the most part... and because there are other, better places where questions about the information found here can be posed.
Many SCD discussion groups have popped up on Yahoo Groups in anticipation of the demise of the Long Island Listserv. I've included a section listing links to some of these sites under "Discussion Groups". This Discussion Group information is also listed in the Links section. The topics continue to be listed in alphabetical order. At some time in the future, I will update this page with information I'd not yet had a chance to post on the old site, and will be reorganizing the section so that it's indexed alphabetically and so more easily navigable.
For those of you who are new to this site, and who never visited it during it's last incarnation, in this instance, FAQ really stands for Frequently Answered Questions... that's because you won't find many questions in this section - just answers. Most of the information comes from discussions on the Long Island Listserv, although there is some information culled from my private correspondence with the author and with many experienced SCDers. The LI Listserv was primarily for newcomers to the diet, and so the information provided there was strict with regard to the diet, given the necessity of strictness if the diet is to work.
Now... the conditions of usage, and a wee bit of editorialzing... I believe strongly that compassion dictates that information that could help someone be shared freely, and that to not do so is not a sin of omission, but rather one of commission... In other words, it's evil (how's that for black and white?). Anyone who wishes to copy this information and post it on their own sites, or disseminate it as they will, may do so freely and with my blessings. I only ask that you continue to credit the Long Island Listserv members who contributed their answers, and that you not change, in substance, the meaning of the answers posted. The Specific Carbohydrate Diet must be followed to the letter or it will not work, and so incorrect information can harm people... so please be careful. That said, please note that the design of these pages, the layout and pictorial elements, are my own work and may not be used without my express permission.
