The information in this section is provided to allow you to start the diet if you don't have your book yet. It is not meant to replace Breaking the Vicious Cycle, and the information is only useful for those just beginning on SCD. The introductory diet for beginners can be found at the Official Breaking the Vicious Cycle Website, but this diet is only meant to be used for 2 - 5 days. We strongly urge you to read through your copy of Breaking the Vicious Cycle a couple times, to familiarize yourself with the logic and rules that are the foundation of SCD. I've included my redux of the science underlying the diet. If you've not yet decided whether SCD makes sense for you and is worth the effort to try, this may help you to make that commitment. For those already on the diet, it may help you to understand the diet better, in order to make implimenting it easier. The yogurt making instructions are those provided by my Mom, Sue, to beginner SCDers who asked for her help. They are detailed, yet easy to follow, and my thanks go to Sue for writing them out and thinking about how someone not experienced in the kitchen would feel facing the task of making yogurt for the first time.
